Hot summer days are here and I added to the Etsy Shop a few newborn knitting and crochet patterns suitable for hot weather. They will be perfect for your vacation, summer Christening, or first baby photoshoot. Each design works fast and is beginner friendly – any mom-to-be or grandma can do them!

Crop Circles Crochet Baby Blanket

One of my absolute favorite summer baby blankets. I used to make the featured blanket the finest 5-ply / sport cotton. You can make it also in bamboo, or silk yarn. One of the best blankets for the hot weather. The design is lightweight as a feather and lets the air circulate avoiding overheating at the same time protecting the baby from the sun or wind.

The modern geometric pattern of the blanket was inspired by the Crop Circles phenomenon. The main part of the blanket is formed by “crop circles” granny squares. Those probably will be the easiest granny squares you’ll ever make! 3 rows and you are done.

This blanket looks stunning in the photos and will help you to capture beautifully so many precious moments. And the fact that this family heirloom you did with your own hands makes it a hundred times more special.

Knit Pants, Shorts or Capries

Why not all?! One pattern has instructions for 2 different lengths – shorts or bloomers and classical long pants. If you want to have a capri style or cropped length – do not work the legs cuffs.

There are a few different designs with different waist and cuffs sections.

From classic to elegant or textured ribs – you have instructions for any of these options. You will need to know the basic stitches and how to work on double-pointed needles. The video tutorial for those who never worked with double-pointed needles is on the way. I will announce when it will be available on YouTube on Instagram.

Knit Coming Home Set

Besides new pants and cute pixie hat patterns, there is also a sweet coming-home set. It is perfect for any season and you can make it in both cotton or merino wool depending on the season your baby will be born. Expect many compliments and a zillion pictures.

For Breastfeeding, Snuggles And Cuddles

Did you know that a cocoon is not great only for newborn photo sessions? You can use it on chilly days while breastfeeding or when you keep the baby in your arms. The chunky knit texture looks gorgeous and is more comfortable than a blanket as it “hugs” the baby from all sides keeping warm.

Besides it does not take much space, not heavy which makes it perfect on the go. This accessory is intended for babies 0-3 months. Please do not use it when the baby is sleeping in the cot or unattended.

Emmy in DK/Aran Yarn Weight

And after many requests, the pattern for Emmy’s blanket is DK/Worsted/ Aran weight yarns finally released! For the blanket featured in the photo above, I used Paris Cotton by Drops Design.

I still have a few more summer crochet patterns for newborns that will be released during the next weeks and 2 shawls designs for children that will be released in August.
