Hot summer days are here and many cute newborn knitting and crochet patterns for summer were added to the Etsy Shop. Some of them can be done in both – cotton or wool yarns which makes them good for both hot and cold seasons.
But there are a few patterns that are the best for hot weather. They will be perfect for your vacation, summer Christening, or first baby photoshoot.
Each design works fast and is beginner-friendly – any mom-to-be or grandma can do them!

This is one of my absolute favorite summer baby blankets. To make the featured blanket I use the finest 5-ply / sport cotton. Also, you can make it in bamboo, or silk yarn.
Surely this design is the best blanket for the hot weather. The blanket is lightweight as a feather and lets the air circulate avoiding overheating and protecting the baby from the sun or wind.

The modern geometric pattern of the blanket was inspired by the Crop Circles phenomenon. The main part of the blanket is formed by “crop circles” granny squares. Those probably will be the easiest granny squares you’ll ever make! 3 rows and you are done.
This blanket looks stunning in the photos and will help you capture many precious moments with your littles. And above all, the fact that this family heirloom you did with your own hands makes it a hundred times more special.

Why not both?! Each pattern has instructions for 2 different lengths – shorts or bloomers, and classical long pants. And if you prefer a capri style or cropped length, do not work the leg cuffs.
There are a few different designs for different waist and cuff sections you can choose from.

Whatever you prefer -classic, elegant, or textured ribs – you will find a pattern with instructions for it.
You will need to know the basic stitches and how to work on double-pointed needles. The video tutorial for those who have never worked with double-pointed needles is on the way. I will announce when it will be available on YouTube and Instagram.

In addition to new pants and cute pixie hat patterns, there is also a sweet coming-home set. It is perfect for any season, and you can make it in cotton or merino wool depending on the seasonin which your baby will be born. Expect many compliments and a zillion pictures.

Did you know that a cocoon is not just great for newborn photo sessions? Additionally, you can use it on chilly days while breastfeeding or when you keep the baby in your arms.
The chunky knit texture looks gorgeous and is more comfortable than a blanket as it “hugs” the baby from all sides, keeping warm.
Beside,s it does not take much space, is not heavy, and is perfect on the go. This accessory is intended for babies 0-3 months. Please do not use it while the baby sleeps in the cot or unattended.

After many requests, I finally released the pattern for Emmy’s blanket in DK/Worsted/ Aran weight yarns! For the blanket featured in the photo above, I used Paris Cotton by Drops Design.
I still have a few more summer crochet patterns for newborns that will be released during the next few weeks, and 2 shawl designs for children that will be released in August.
